What To Wear To Your Wedding Dress Appointment

Once you have booked your wedding dress appointment, it’s worth doing a little bit of preparation to make sure that your experience is as enjoyable and stress free as possible. Here is our guide on what to wear and what to take with you, so your day goes smoothly and you have the best chance of finding your dream dress.

Underwear

 

You don’t need to go out and purchase new underwear especially for your wedding dress appointment, but it’s important to wear something comfortable and items that will allow you to try on a range of dresses of different styles. If you find a dress with a beautiful bodice, you won’t want to ruin the effect with a thick strap black bra, and you wont get a sense of whether it’s right for you if you have to go braless or push the straps down. Buying a wedding dress is a big decision, and you won’t want to decide on the day if you have to guess whether it will look great if you had the right underwear. We recommend nude or light coloured items, and a strapless bra is also helpful.

 

Shoes

Most people buy their dress before they buy their shoes, but if you have already found your ideal pair, bring them with you. Equally, if you know what height of heel you want to wear, bringing something of a similar height can ensure you get a good sense of how your dress will look when you put everything together. We also have a small selection of shoes that can be tried on with dresses to give an idea of heel heights. It can be a good idea to bring something sturdy like a wedge, so you don’t have to worry about tripping or tearing a dress. If you are on the taller side, you might consider bringing flats. Whatever you bring, it’s helpful if they are easy to slip on and off, so you don’t spend the day undoing and doing up straps and clasps!

Accessories

Again, if you have already got something you know you will be wearing on your wedding day – like your engagement ring or some other sentimental jewellery – you should definitely bring them with you. Bringing too much can make things complicated, and again, risks snagging the material as you try things on. Make Up, Fake Tan & Body Creams

Less is definitely more – minimal make up, no last minute body cream and absolutely no fake tan. You will have all of these things perfected for your big day, but careful steps will be taken to make sure that you don’t have foundation or tan smears on your dress. Not having to worry about that at your appointment is a good idea!
